Hello, Hello! We're Adopting Because...we knew we wanted several kids, and always hoped to adopt as part of our family plan. We didn't realize how difficult it would be for us to have children naturally and, like many couples, braved several years of infertility. After exploring international adoption, then having a miraculous unexpected pregnancy that ended in a crushing stillbirth, it became clear we were simply meant to adopt a baby already! All the struggle has taught us that 1) our relationship is amazingly strong, 2) we're born to be parents and 3) it doesn't matter that children come from us, only that they come to us. We just can't wait to have a family! Fast and Fun Facts
Brad was raised the third of four kids in a modest Lutheran family in suburban St Paul. He is genuine, funny, honest, and definitely a 'glass half-full' kind of guy. Brad really listens to people and can seriously talk to anyone. He consistently respects people's feelings, opinions and perspectives, even when he disagrees, which makes him 'a safe place'. It's a trait that earns him the loyalty, trust and respect of his friends and colleagues, and is one of the many things that will make him an incredible Dad. Brad's a fool for his nieces (yep, puts on the makeup too) and he can change a disgusting diaper with the best of 'em. He's also a natural teacher ' gentle & patient. I'm so proud to call him my husband, so very blessed to be the one that gets to spend life with him. I just know his kids will feel the same in having him as their Dad!
Julie has talked about being a Mom since I've known her. For years she's saved cookie cutter shapes for holidays and rainy days, Disney movies, dress-up clothes and even a solid children's library reflecting her life-long passion for children's books. Julie is great about the basic routines of daily life, but really understands that what kids want most your time and attention. She delights in making everyday things special for them, like watching TV under blanket forts or making 'magic' snow with food coloring! Seeing how Julie cares for and plays with her friend's kids (who adore her), I know she'll be the most amazing Mom. Family Is Important. We are fortunate to come from intact families that have remained close over the years. Both of us treasure the traditions and experiences we had as kids, and are SO looking forward to sharing them. All the activities Minnesota seasons offer like sledding & s'mores in the fireplace, leaf-pile kamikaze & camping in the backyard, water-skiing & fort-building, summer road trips to the ocean & Yellowstone & Washington DC, and of course big family holidays with tons of food and wrapping paper up to your knees at Christmas. We also look forward to dinner together every night, bedtime stories and prayers, weekly chores, and lazy Saturdays in our pajamas. We do them now, but can't wait to change those bedtime stories from adult novels to Dr. Seuss!! We Love To Travel and have enjoyed many domestic and international vacations; eating our way through Italy, floating on the Nile, touching the Great Pyramids in Egypt, and backpacking the Appalachian Trail. We've been exposed to many cultures and lifestyles through travels and international friends, and are grateful for the financial stability that allows us to see the world.
