Brett & Lynn

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and for considering us. While we can not pretend to know what you are going through, we want you to know how much we admire your decision.

Who are we? We are Brett and Lynn. We have been married for 5 years and can not wait to be parents! Brett is a geographic information systems coordinator for a City. His job is perfect for parenting as the hours are flexible. Brett will be able to attend those important events in a child's life, like school recitals, conferences and sneaking out early to go fishing. Lynn is passionate about her job at a childcare center. Not only does she love her work, she loves the fact that she will be able to spend every day with our adopted child.

Where do we live? We live in a small town where we met in northern Minnesota. Our town is situated on a lake near a state park, which is perfect because we enjoy hiking and fishing. There are also several elementary schools, a middle school, a new high school and a state college. We love a good college hockey game. Lynn's love of hockey must be contagious because Brett now enjoys a good game as much as she does!

What do we like to do? We each have our own hobbies in addition to some things that we like to do together. Lynn is big reader, she reads just about every evening. Lynn also enjoys Minnesota Wild hockey games. A big part of Lynn's life is the children at the childcare center where she works. Even at home she is always dreaming up crafts and projects for the kids to do at work. Brett does a lot of outdoor activities, ice fishing and archery league in the winter, fishing in the summer, hunting in the fall. Whether it is spending time at his parents' cabin or exploring a new lake, Brett is usually outside doing something. Together we like to travel, go hiking, and attend Wild hockey games. We also enjoy walking our two dogs. Selma is a basset hound and Tucker is a yellow lab. Both of our dogs are very gentle and fun to be around.

What do we think about parenting? We believe it is a blessing. It is something that we have waited a long time for. One of the things we look forward to most is spending time with our child, creating new family traditions and passing on old ones. A big part of our summers is going to Brett's parents' cabin where we boat and have bonfires with family. As we mentioned earlier we also enjoy going to Wild games in St. Paul. We believe doing things together as a family is very important. In all of our discussions about raising children, we both agree that we want our child to be able to be a child; to run around, explore and play. We want to teach our child about responsibility and respect for themselves and for others. We also believe strongly in a good education. We hope that our child will come to love learning.

Why adoption? As we are unable to have children ourselves, we feel that adoption is a wonderful way to provide us with the gift of a child. We want our child to know, from the beginning, their adoption story, to know how extraordinary they are and about how our family was made in a special way, by people who love them very much!
