Dear Birthparent(s), We have been together since 1995 and happily married since 1997. From the time we got to know each other, we learned that we shared many of the same values, goals and dreams. Children have always been an important part of our lives, and soon after we were married, we started trying to have a family. After many challenges, in 2003 we were blessed with the birth of our daughter, Alycia. She has brought so much fun and joy to our lives, and we are extremely excited and thrilled to be pursuing adoption as the next step in building our family! We have a stable, loving marriage and a household that is filled with patience, understanding, fun and lots of energy! Parenting is everything we dreamed about, and we cannot wait to continue on this adoption journey. About Tana: I grew up on a farm in North Dakota and am the youngest of three children. I work in the field of advertising and have been with my company for over 13 years. I am very fortunate to have the flexibility at my job to keep a great balance between work and home. In my spare time, I enjoy creative projects like scrapbooking and getting together with family and friends at the park to play sand volleyball on Thursday nights in the summer. I treasure my time doing fun things with Aly, whether we are coloring, baking cookies or stringing beads to make a necklace. I also love to sit at the piano and sing silly songs! At night it is so rewarding to curl up with Aly to read books before bedtime, watching her excitement build as I turn the next page. "Tana is a very caring, dedicated, loving, honest, and true person. She is a great wife and terrific mom! She is the most organized person I know... which is a good thing! Her respect and compassion for others is amazing. She can truly relate to people and is always the person that other people lean on. Tana is very talented in every avenue of music — whether singing or playing the piano. Her love of music was one of the common bonds that brought us together. Our love and friendship continues to grow every day!" ~Corey About Corey: I was raised in a small town in South Dakota and am the youngest of five kids. I have worked in the technology field for the past 18 years and am currently the support services manager for a computer data company. It is a rewarding job that allows me to learn and grow every day. In my free time, I am active in sports — both participating and watching. This can range from a game of pick up sand volleyball at the park, to shooting 18 holes of golf with my brothers or watching the Vikings play on Sunday afternoon. I also enjoy singing, playing piano and even strum a few chords on the guitar every now and then! I just love being a dad, from blowing bubbles in the front yard to playing dress-up and play dough. Every day I get to watch my daughter experience new things!
Home, Neighborhood, Family & Friends: In 2004, we built a new home with plenty of space for our family to grow. Our neighborhood is a safe, family-oriented community where you often see children playing outside. We have a gentle, lovable cocker spaniel named Disney who is a wonderful dog that loves kids and is a little "best friend" to our daughter. We are in walking distance of parks, schools and bike trails and live only a short drive away from both downtown and the country. We feel like we have the best of both worlds and many great friends and family around to make it complete. Throughout the year, we get together with family for birthdays and holidays - always looking forward to lots of laughs and our family's favorite recipe for hot fudge ice cream topping! We are blessed to have eight wonderful nieces and nephews and love to cheer them on as they participate in many activities and sports. We look forward to watching our children learn and grow through events and activities, whether it is sports, scouting, music or anything else they choose. Activities & Interests: The lifestyle we lead is both active and fun. We are members of a great church family where children are a main focus. The outdoors are also a big part of our life, whether it is going to the park, taking a bike ride or playing on our swing set in the back yard. A day spent at the state fair looking at the animals and exhibits or an afternoon with Aly at the Children's Museum are a couple of the things we love to do. We enjoy pony rides and hay rides in the fall, skating and sledding in the winter and golfing, volleyball and swimming in the summer. Music was a very important part of the way we were both raised and is very much a part of our household. We even fire up our karaoke machine on occasion - which is lots of fun! Parenting: Our parenting style is based on love, respect, trust and fairness. It is our goal to lead by example and provide a stable, loving home where children can grow up laughing, learning, playing and acquiring all the skills necessary to prepare them for their adult life. We feel that it is important to instill self-respect and confidence in our children so that they can learn to make good decisions for themselves. It is equally important to give children the opportunity to experience many things and provide the support and reinforcement they need. We know children always come first, and believe in the importance of fun, quality family time. We love every part of parenting and strive to raise happy, healthy, Values and Beliefs: We were both raised in loving Christian homes with strong family values. Our faith is an important part of our lives, and we strive to nurture our children with the values of love, patience, and honesty. In Closing: Call 1-800-631-4023
