Dale & Heather

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and to learn a little more about us. We can only imagine what a difficult decision this must be for you. We hope that this letter shows our sincere wish to welcome a second child into our lives.

We started dating in college, and from the moment we met, we had an instant connection. Not only did we have similar family backgrounds and common interests, but we also had the same first car – orange 1980 Ford Fiestas! How could we not be made for each other?! We have been happily married for 9 years. It was never a question for us that we would one day have a family, and we couldn't imagine our future without children. After experiencing the challenges of infertility, we decided to pursue adoption. We adopted our first child, Isabel, in April 2006, and we are excited to add to our family through adoption.

My wife Heather loves watching Friends reruns and reading romance novels. Heather's job as a school librarian is perfect, as it combines two of her favorite things, books and teaching kids. Heather also enjoys rollerblading, playing volleyball, scrapbooking and having coffee with friends. She especially loves spending time with our daughter and our six godchildren. Children have always been drawn to Heather. It's only a matter of time before they crawl up into her lap for a story. As a mother, Heather is very calm and nurturing. She loves spending time with Isabel, whether it's playing at home, going to visit friends and family, or going for a stroller ride at the mall. Motherhood really agrees with my wife. ~Dale

Dale is the first person that friends and family call on for help, whether it's helping his grandmother with her computer or assisting friends with home improvement projects. One of the things I love most about my husband is his outgoing personality. He is very upbeat, and has a great sense of humor. These traits come in very handy in his job as a high school administrator. In his free time, he enjoys exercising, refereeing basketball games, reading, playing XBox, and helping out on his parents' farm during the summer. Our nephews and niece think that "Unkie Dale" is lots of fun. He likes playing catch and building Lego or Lincoln Log projects with the kids on the living room floor. Dale loves playing with Isabel and entertaining her with made up songs and rhymes. Dale is a very active and involved father. ~Heather

Our families have been extremely supportive of Isabel's adoption and our plans to adopt a second child. Everyone is so excited to have a new little one to love! We are fortunate to live in the same town as Heather's parents and her younger brother and Dale's older sister and her family, so we get together often. Dale's parents live on a farm about three hours away, and we usually see them at least once a month. The farm is always lots of fun. Our niece and nephews enjoy playing with the pigs and cats, and helping Grandpa and Grandma in the garden. No summer would be complete without a ride in the tractor or combine!

Traditions are very important to us, and we've enjoyed starting new traditions with our own family. Even simple things like watching Saturday morning cartoons in our jammies or going for a family walk after dinner are special times. As educators, we both have summers off, so it will be the perfect opportunity to spend time and make memories with our kids. The guys in Dale's family enjoy their annual fishing day at the lake. We round out the day with a family picnic. During the summer, Heather's family often gets together at her aunt and uncle's lake home. We spend the day relaxing in the sun, building sandcastles on the beach, swimming, and riding the We end the day with a family barbeque and an evening ride on the pontoon. Fall wouldn't be complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch. In November, we spend deer hunting weekend with Dale's family. The men go hunting, and the women and kids stay home and work on craft projects. We get together again in January to turn that deer meat into sausage! On Christmas Eve, we go to church, we drive around looking at lights and singing carols, and we shoot off fireworks before bed. (We want Santa to know our exact location, after all!) Christmas morning begins with the kids opening the presents left by Santa. Then we all gather in the kitchen for Grandma's famous egg bake before opening the rest of the gifts. We love to watch our daughter, niece, nephews, and godchildren rip open their presents.

Our home is located in a suburban area in a moderate sized city. In our neighborhood there are many young couples with children. We are lucky to live in such a quiet, safe area, close to our jobs. Our neighborhood is a popular place on Halloween, as many parents choose to bring their kids here to go trick-or-treating. We have a city park less than two blocks from our home, and it's the perfect place to go for a wagon ride or to fly a kite.

We can't wait to hear a second set of little footsteps running through the house. We would be honored to be chosen as the parents for your child. We promise to love your child unconditionally, and to let this child know how much you cared for what lay ahead in his or her future. We greatly admire your courage and strength in exploring adoption. We hope that you have some insight into who we are and the type of parents we have become. We would love to talk with you to learn more about you and your hopes and dreams for your child. If you have any questions for us, please feel free to call us anytime at 1-800-814-5428 (pin 00) or email us at

Again, thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We hope you are getting the support you need during this difficult time. We wish you the best.

Sincerely,
Heather & Dale
