Jerry & Mary

Hello...
We are Jerry and Mary. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We hope to convey what your child's life would be like if placed in our family, and understand our commitment to raising a child in our loving home.

Our wish for you is that you are able to make an adoption plan for your child that gives you peace. Please know that making this loving adoption plan for your child is making someone's dream come true. What an amazing gift!!

A birth mother in our family...
Adoption was a natural choice for us because it has always been in our lives.

Forty-three years ago, my mom found herself in a situation somewhat similar to the one you are in today. My mom elected to place her child for adoption at birth. To this day my mom has no regrets and feels she made the best decision for everyone. My sister Diane, the child she placed for adoption all those years ago, today is my best friend. We talk every day on the phone and are as close, if not closer, as we would have been if we had grown up together.

About Us...
We met through Match.com. It didn't take us long to realize we were meant to be.. forever!! A year and a half later we were married. Our home is in the southwestern suburbs of the Twin Cities. We enjoy our close knit and friendly neighborhood. There are several schools, parks and trails nearby that we make use of as often as we can.

Jerry about Mary...
The sun shines in Mary's world even on the cloudiest days! Mary is a person with exceptional warmth and is always willing to help others. Mary has the ability to work with children like no one I've ever seen. Children take to Mary easily and just follow her lead. She brings out the best in them in a playful and respectful manner. She always makes the best of any situation with heartfelt love and support. Mary is extremely dedicated to finishing what she starts with organizational skills that are beyond compare. She fulfills my life!

Mary about Jerry...
Jerry is a very loving and caring person with an awesome sense of humor. Jerry grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and learned early the value of hard work and independence. Jerry is often found volunteering or doing something to help others. He is the one that everyone says is such a great guy!! And I certainly agree.

When Jerry is around children you might think he is a jungle gym because that is how children act around him. They climb all over him just to be close to him. I have seen children go to Jerry when they were afraid and find safety and comfort in his arms. What an awesome sight! Jerry is more than I ever could have wished for in a spouse and has already shown me what a great dad he will be.

Values and Beliefs...
We place a high value on our family time. We both grew up in families that ate meals, played games and attended church together, and this is very much a part of our family life today. We believe developing a foundation based upon family time is fundamental in building core values, relationships and trust within our family unit. We believe parenting requires a couple to speak in one voice, provide support and consistent discipline, and lead by example.

We value our family traditions...
Both our families have long standing traditions which we continue to embrace.

When attending a holiday get-together with Jerry's family, we're always greeted with a warm welcome followed by the smell of a home-cooked meal, with a beautifully decorated table inviting us to join. The remainder of our time together is spent catching up while playing cards and board games.

One of our favorite traditions with Mary's family is Christmas Eve. It is shared with 50-80 aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The magic starts with getting all duded up and making your favorite appetizer to share with everyone. The evening begins with food and continues with singing of Christmas carols around the piano, sitting on Santa's lap and listening to the story of the birth of Jesus.

Then we have traditions we have chosen to make our own. They include a holiday baking day [Uncle Jerry & Nephew Tom pictured above] , hosting Easter for family and friends, making homemade egg rolls and inviting friends and neighbors over for our annual December egg roll fry out in our garage. There is nothing like sharing egg rolls in your hats and mittens out in the garage. This is one of those events where people ask for the date months in advance to be sure they don't miss it!

Hobbies and Interests...
We both have many hobbies and interests that keep us busy in our spare time.

Jerry's passion is for the outdoors: from turkey hunting, to lake and ice fishing to our backyard garden, to being our Family Charcoal Grill Master. Jerry is also quite the history buff and follows the stock market and our retirement investments closely. When it comes to time with the guys, you will either find Jerry playing Texas Hold'em or intense games of strategy.

Most of Mary's hobbies revolve around her desire to be creative. Her creativity can be seen in her carefully crafted homemade cards, her ability to decorate a room in our house, and the decadent meals she prepares for guests. When it comes to girl time you will either find Mary stamping or shopping to find her friend "Clearance".

We both thoroughly enjoy entertaining friends and family at our home, tailgating and attending St. Paul Saints baseball games, playing cards, board games and going for long walks throughout the year.
