Pamela & Gerald
We can't think of a greater joy in life than to share our laughter & love with a child. We hope to become a family. This letter is intended to give you insight into who we are & the life we can give a child. It can't be easy for you to read these letters & we appreciate your reading ours. How do you pick the people who will raise the child you are bringing into the world? We can't imagine how hard it must be. Is it because someone played basketball as a teen, because their picture looks like a favorite Aunt or because their dog reminds you of the one you grew up with? Or is it something about them that gives you a warm feeling you can't describe? So if you don't mind, we will start our story from the beginning. Hopefully you'll find it informative & heartwarming.
Chapter 1: Princess Pamela
Once upon a time, in a land far to the North called Winnipeg, Canada, there was a little girl named Pamela. Pamela & her brother spent the winters building forts in the basement & the summers splashing in their pool. The house was always filled with people. As a teen, Pamela's passions were singing, acting & dancing, while balancing working in her mom's children's clothing store. She went off to college, eventually pursuing Master's degrees in Chemistry & Business. Moving to Minneapolis to be closer to family & her brother, Pamela became a Clinic Administrator at a medical practice. She dreamed of meeting a gentle man who wanted to create a home & family filled with love & laughter.
Chapter 2: Prince Gerald
Once upon a time in a land far to the east called Spring Valley, NY, there was a little boy named Gerald. Gerald was the eldest of three boys, one of whom was his twin. Gerald loved the times he spent at his grandparents house, where there was always great food surrounded by lots of family. He spent his teen years reading & playing chess while it rained outside in Portland, OR. Gerald thrived in college participating in track & cross country with an exciting semester spent in Germany. After getting his graduate degree in Finance, he settled in Minneapolis, & established his career as a Financial Analyst. He dreamed of meeting a fair maiden who appreciated his quirky lovable nature to share his heart & enrich his life.
Chapter 3: Destiny
Then one wonderful evening, their paths crossed. Fairy dust cast a magical spell over them. Or was it chocolate sprinkles? On their first date, they found they both had an insatiable love of ice cream. Within hours, they knew they would be spending the rest of their lives together. Their lives entwined filled with social events, family, friends & trips to Sebastian Joe's Ice Cream.
Pamela knew Gerald was her prince. She wanted to fulfill her dream of having a home & family with him. He was one of the most intelligent men she knew with a worldwide perspective & liberal minded outlook. He loved to take an evening walk with her or play a game of mini-golf. Pamela grew to love Gerald's sweet heart & easy going nature, including his way of taking things very literally. There was something endearing about the way cookies disappeared when he was around. She believed he was really Cookie Monster in disguise.
Gerald knew Pamela was his princess with whom he wanted to fulfill his dreams. She was one of the most fascinating women he knew. She enriched his life, & helped him try new things like fondue or seeing a Broadway show. She loved her playtime with her nephews & their little faces lit up the minute they saw her. Gerald found she could persevere through anything with a smile on her face & never lose her sense of humor. He cherished how Pamela lovingly created a home for them, & could just as easily bake a cake as use power tools to build a deck.
Chapter 4: Twist of Fate
One day, Gerald gave Pamela a special topping on her ice cream that sparkled. Everything was wonderful & magical as they headed along their path to unite their lives. As fate would have it, there is a twist to this story as in every good tale. Pamela was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her treatment would not allow her to have children biologically. Fortunately, Pamela was given a cancer free diagnosis with an excellent prognosis for a long & healthy life. It was time to embrace the good in life & pursue their dream of a family through adoption!
Chapter 5: Magical Moments
Today, they have a cottage (townhouse) by an enchanted forest (nature preserve) which is their haven. They often take magical walks at dusk on wonderful hidden paths which have sleek deer & hooting owls. They love entertaining everyone big & small, whether sledding down the hill in winter or gazing at the stars in summer.
Chapter 6: Future Dreams
They plan to raise a child in the Jewish faith filled with traditions & family values. They embrace a strong sense of family, with an open & loving home. Both sets of grandparents can't wait to visit frequently, teaching them silly songs, how to fly a kite, or play peek-a-boo. They will get to know their cousins near & far, spending holidays, birthdays & family vacations in the US & Canada together.
As parents, they plan to have a high value on education, whether through textbooks or hands-on exploration. They have discovered the world around them & hope to introduce a child to their passions for theater, football & travel. They intend to spend summer days at the park & winter nights curled up with a Disney movie or playing Candyland. As parents, they hope to raise a child with imagination, creativity & guidance while letting them fly on their own wings to experience all life has to offer.
Now that you know a little about us, we can't wait to meet you to learn about your hopes & dreams for your baby. We believe we will be great parents, whether it is a little boy, a little girl, twins or siblings. With all the love in our hearts, we will fill each day with hugs, kisses, smiles, laughter & fill their lives with happily ever after...
Love,
Pamela & Gerald
