Shannon and Erik

Hello!
We are Shannon & Erik, and we are so excited to adopt. We don't pretend to understand the challenges that you face, but as parents we understand the love you have for your baby and your desire to give him or her the best in life. We sincerely wish you the best in your search, and hope that our family is chosen!

Erik
I am an animated person who likes to wear bold colors. I talk with my hands. I sing to the song. I laugh out loud at jokes, and I whistle as I walk. I'm the dad who likes to play trains, change diapers, play peek-a-boo in public, do the chicken dance, and deal with tantrums. I am so excited to parent another child.

When I'm not at the office coordinating community development projects, I enjoy riding my bike, running, listening to music, and playing with Facebook and Twitter. I love sports and never miss a Vikings game on TV or a Twins game on the radio. Visiting Major League baseball parks and getting a team baseball is often part of any vacation. I have been to 16 ball parks throughout the country and plan to see two more this summer.

Shannon
I enjoy gardening, doing house projects, shopping, working out at the gym, playing piano, baking, volunteering, and being outside. I also organize the neighborhood block party every year. I treasure my time as a mom, whether we are drawing trucks, building towers, making cupcakes, or playing at the park. We love to sit together and read books. At night, I look forward to telling bedtime stories.

Although I manage a recycling program, and love my work, my most important job is being a mom, and I love every minute of it - waking up in the middle of the night to give comfort from a bad dream, teething, going to the doctor, and taking time off from work to care for a sick child.

Adam
Adam is a loving, charismatic, and funny almost 3 year-old boy. He loves reading books, playing with trucks and trains, building towers, dancing, doing the "old man walk", and snuggling. He attends a learning center while we are at work. At "school" he learns about music, art, numbers, science and nature. He also learns about Jesus and the Bible during weekly Children's Church. His teachers often remark how gentle he is with babies and what a great big brother he will be someday.

Life With Us
We have been best friends for over 10 years and happily married since 2002. We love spending time together - whether we are going for a bike ride, hosting dinner parties, camping, traveling or just hanging out.

We live in a great old house and our urban neighborhood has everything we love like young families with children, culture, diversity, large parks, trails, playgrounds, beaches, sledding hills, restaurants, and places to shop. We are fortunate to have many close friends and family living nearby.

We love to travel and have been to Paris, London, Switzerland, Argentina and Chile. But some of our favorite vacations involve taking road trips and camping. In the next two years, we plan on visiting Norway for our family reunion.
