Toni and Naomi
Life brings people together in unexpected ways.
We are trying to imagine you as we write this. We don't presume to know how you feel, but we know that your child will always be a part of you.
We hope that someday soon you will be a special person in our lives. As you get to know us better, you will see that we will provide your child with a loving, stable home environment and that we will parent your child with all the attention, support, and unconditional love he or she needs.
Our relationship is built on trust, communication, and enduring love for each other.
We have always wanted to be parents! Despite periods of sadness and disappointment while trying to have a child through fertility treatments, we grew tremendously as individuals and as a couple. We learned that our relationship can withstand great stress, that we work well together during difficult times, and that patience and flexibility are necessary to overcome challenges. These experiences prepared us well to be loving parents to your child no matter what challenges we may face in the future.
We have strong values and a positive outlook on life.
Our parents taught us to treat everyone with respect. Life experiences have made us strong, open-minded, and compassionate people. We know the importance of defining success for ourselves and working hard to achieve it. As a result, we enjoy many opportunities in life that we can provide to your child. We will give your child room to follow his or her own path in life as we have done.
We will both be very active and involved parents.
We are ready and able to give your child all the attention, support and unconditional love he or she needs. We both work full-time (Toni as an attorney and Naomi as a trader at an investment company) and have the option to work part-time or work flexible hours to spend more time at home with the family.
About Toni (by Naomi)
Toni is a loving, passionate, smart, adventurous woman. She has more integrity than anyone I know. She is generous and loves to share new experiences. Toni and our dog Rosie volunteer in various settings to help those overcoming learning disabilities and personal challenges. One of the young boys they worked with who has ADHD said that he learned that he can quiet his mind by controlling his breath and can now concentrate better at school.
I am so proud of the difference Toni makes in people's lives. Toni will be a great parent. She is loving, patient, and playful with children. When our nieces and nephews visit, she plans fun activities for them (such as painting magnets, ice skating or playing board games) and always makes sure to tell them that she loves them. I can't wait to see her with our own child!
About Naomi (by Toni)
Naomi is very smart, caring, and easy going. Kids are immediately drawn to her. The first time my niece met Naomi, she excitedly ran around the house telling everyone, "Naomi is my best friend! Naomi is my best friend!" I am very excited for Naomi to be a mother. She is very patient with children and loves seeing the delight in their faces when they figure out how to do something or learn something new.
She will be a great teacher to your child. Naomi is very creative and loves to knit, take photographs, and make beautiful handmade jewelry. She is a great cook and makes wonderful meals with fresh ingredients from our garden. She looks forward to teaching our child to follow his or her creative passions.
We are down-to-earth people.
We are active and enjoy yoga, running, hiking, and snowshoeing. We also enjoy hanging out at home, watching movies at our favorite theater, eating at ethnic restaurants, and traveling. We visit a sleepy fishing village in Mexico every year and love interacting with the locals, learning about their culture, and speaking Spanish with them. We look forward to sharing these experiences with our child and are excited to explore new activities that interest him or her.
Our home is comfortable and safe with plenty of room for a child.
We live in a nice neighborhood near parks, libraries, and bike paths. Many of our neighbors have small children. Our large fenced-in backyard will be a great place for your child to learn how to play catch, run around with our dog Rosie or simply explore nature under the large oak and pine trees.
Our families and friends are very supportive of our plan to adopt.
We both come from large families. Toni has three sisters and one brother; Naomi has two sisters and one brother. We have five nieces nearby (three of whom are under age 5) and six more nieces and nephews in Chicago. Several of Toni's extended family members live near us.
Our friends come from diverse backgrounds, races, and family compositions. Many of our friends live near us with their babies and young children, some of whom are adopted. Our family and friends are very excited to welcome our child into their lives!
We acknowledge your courage in making this thoughtful choice for your child.
Your decision to make an adoption plan shows the deep love you have for your child. From an early age, your child will know about the loving decision you made in bringing us together. We are ready to provide your child with a home full of love, laughter, creativity, and adventure.
We are open to developing a relationship with you that evolves over time to satisfy everyone's needs.
We promise to show understanding, patience, and flexibility throughout the journey.
Warmly,
Toni and Naomi
